Site Image Check
Find the images on pages of your site whose alt text may not match the picture, and get a fix sheet to work through. One payment, nothing renews.
$49 for up to 50 pages, or $149 for up to 250 pages. Before you pay, we show you which pages we would check.
See what you get first: a sample fix sheet (a CSV file you can open in a spreadsheet) and the sample report.
What you get
- A list of the images whose alt text may not match the picture, page by page, each with what the vision model says the image shows. Each flag is a possible mismatch for you to confirm.
- A fix sheet to work through, with each flagged image once, every page it is on, its current alt text and a suggested replacement marked as a draft.
- One re-check, which you start within 30 days of the first check finishing, to confirm your fixes worked.
The full list and what the check does not do are lower on this page. It is a single look: Starter covers 20 pages every week for $29 a month.

What we would check
Your Site Image Check
Stripe has your payment. We're confirming your order.
What you get, in full
- The images whose alt text may not match the picture, page by page, each with what the vision model says the image shows. Each flag is a possible mismatch for you to confirm against the image.
- A fix sheet: each flagged image once, with every page it is on, its current alt text, what the model says it shows, and a suggested replacement marked as a draft. Images with no alt attribute are listed by full address, with no draft. See a sample fix sheet (a CSV file you can open in a spreadsheet).
- The 16 rule checks on every page, for problems such as images with no alt text, form fields with no label and links with no name.
- An AI disclosure section: for each image the check downloads, the AI markers its file declares (a C2PA manifest, an IPTC digital source type, AI keywords in its metadata) and whether the page shows AI label wording with the image, in its alt text, a caption or the text next to it; for each page, the known chat widgets in its HTML and whether wording about AI use appears in its text. It is in the printable report and the fix sheet. It reports what files and pages declare or show. It does not decide whether an image is AI-generated.
- An AI inventory: a CSV file with one row for each image file the check read (the AI markers its file declares and the label wording found with it), each known chat widget in a page's HTML and each page's wording about AI use, at no extra price. It is a record of what was found, not a certification. You download it from your dashboard and from the printable report.
- Phrases to review: wording in your checked pages that usually needs evidence behind it when it describes your own product, service or customers, such as AI capability claims, claims of meeting a law or standard, guarantees, and review wording. It uses the same rules as our free AI claims and reviews checker and lists up to 25 distinct phrases, each with the page it was found on and a link to the official text. It is in the printable report. It does not say whether a claim is accurate or whether a rule applies.
- Results in your dashboard, the printable report and the CSV export, each limited to the site you checked. The printable report, the CSV export and the fix sheet also carry a coverage line: how many images were judged, how many were skipped, and why. The dashboard does not show it.
- One re-check, which you start within 30 days of the first check finishing, to confirm your fixes worked.
Which pages we check
We read your sitemap and start with your home page, then your collection and product pages, then your other pages, then blog posts, up to the number you choose. Pages your robots.txt asks GotAltBot not to read are left out. If your site has no sitemap, we check your home page and the pages on your site it links to. If your robots.txt blocks GotAltBot, your site does not answer, or today's checks are fully booked, we tell you here, before you pay.
What the check does not do
- It judges up to six images on each page, main-content images first.
- It does not open your pages in a browser, so it does not check color contrast or anything a script adds after the page loads.
- Its rule checks touch 10 of the 50 WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA criteria (the criteria WCAG 2.2 keeps, plus 4.1.1 Parsing, which 2.2 removed). The other 40 are listed below and on your report.
- A flag is a possible mismatch, not a verdict: confirm each one against the image. A suggested alt text is a draft to check and edit before you publish it.
- The AI disclosure section reads the image file as our request receives it, and an image service can send a browser a different file from the one it sends us, for example one with its metadata removed. A file with no AI marker says nothing about how its image was made. Chat widgets and labels that a script adds after the page loads are not in the HTML we read. The section does not say whether any law applies to your pages or whether you meet it, and it is not legal advice. GotAlt reads what a file and a page declare. It cannot tell whether an image was made with AI.
- Phrases to review reads a fixed list of English phrases in the text of the HTML we read. A phrase listed is wording to look at, not a finding that a claim is untrue; a phrase not listed is not a sign that nothing needs support. Testimonial credits and photos are read only by the free checker, on a page you open.
- There is no weekly schedule, no alerts and no monthly summary email. Our monitoring plans do that.
- It is an automated check, not a manual audit. Its results are not a statement that your site meets WCAG or any law. This page is not legal advice.

Refunds
If the check could not run on your site, or you find that most of its flags are wrong, email hello@gotalt.com from the address you paid with within 7 days of paying, and we refund the payment in full.
What we keep, and for how long
Paying creates a GotAlt account with the email address you give at checkout, unless that address already has one, and the check goes on that account. Results are kept until 12 months after the re-check window closes (the 30 days after the first check finishes), then deleted; they are deleted sooner, with your account, if you ask by email. Our privacy policy has the details, and our terms of service cover the check in full.
This is not legal advice. You remain responsible for the disclosures you publish.
