Key terms of a GotAlt subscription
Version 2026-10-22. Last updated October 22, 2026. Written in plain English.
What this page is
This page summarizes the terms of a GotAlt monitoring subscription (Starter, Professional or Agency, billed monthly or yearly) before you pay for one. You accept it by ticking the box at checkout. It summarizes the plan's terms and does not replace them: the full terms are the terms of service, and our privacy policy explains what happens to your data. The pricing page lists everything each plan includes.
We show this page to every subscriber, wherever they live. Connecticut Public Act No. 26-15, "An Act Concerning Online Safety", section 1 (effective October 1, 2026), asks sellers of AI subscriptions to give Connecticut residents a written notice of the key terms and to get their written acceptance. Read the official text of the Act (checked October 22, 2026). Nothing on this page says that a GotAlt subscription or report meets any law.
What each plan includes each month
These are the most each plan covers in a month. The table comes from the same plan definitions the service runs on, so it changes when they do.
| Plan | Monitored pages included | Sites | Page checks a month | Images the AI model judges a month | AI suggestions for new alt text a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 20 (no added pages) | 1 | 100 | 600 | 600 |
| Professional | 50 | 1 | 250 | 1,500 | 1,500 |
| Agency | 100 pooled | Unlimited | 500 | 3,000 | 3,000 |
| Each added page (Professional and Agency) | 1 | None | 5 | 30 | 30 |
- Pages. A monitored page is one web address you ask us to check. Starter covers its pages on one site and has no added pages. Professional and Agency start at the pages shown and add pages at the price in the table further down. Agency shares its pages across all your client sites.
- Checks. Each monitored page is checked once every 7 days. A calendar month holds four or five of those, and the table counts 5. A page that cannot be loaded is retried on the schedule described on the pricing page.
- Images. At each check the AI model judges up to 6 images on a page, main-content images first, against their alt text. Other images, and images we cannot download, are skipped and listed as skipped, with the reason, in your reports. The model looks at a page's images again when they or their alt text have changed, so the number judged in a month can be well below the maximum of 30 for each page.
- AI suggestions. When the model judges an alt text wrong or missing, it drafts new alt text. It drafts at most one for each image it judges, there is no separate allowance and no extra charge, and every draft is a suggestion for you to check before you publish it.
The AI features, and what can go wrong
- A third party runs the AI model. The image checks and the suggestions use an AI model run by a provider we do not control. Today that provider is Anthropic. The privacy policy says what we send it and how long it keeps it. If the provider is slow, down or changes its terms, our AI features can be slow, partial or unavailable until it recovers.
- It can be wrong. The model can call an alt text wrong when it is right, miss one that is wrong, and misdescribe an image. A suggestion can be inaccurate or leave out something that matters. A result with no flags is not proof that a page has no accessibility problems, and a flag is not proof that it has one. You make the final decision on every flag and every suggestion.
- The model can change. We choose the model. We may switch to a different model, a newer version or a different provider at any time, for quality, cost or availability. A change can alter what is flagged, how suggestions read and how long a check takes. We do not promise a particular model, or that results will stay the same from one week to the next. A change that reduces what your plan includes follows the notice rule below.
- What the AI disclosure features read. GotAlt reads what a file and a page declare. It cannot tell whether an image was made with AI.
- Reports are not legal advice. GotAlt's reports are automated findings. They do not certify that a site meets any law or standard. The terms of service say more under "Our reports are not legal advice".
When we can limit, suspend or end access, or reduce functionality
Yes, we have that discretion, in the cases below. The terms of service have the full wording.
Without notice
- Use that breaks the terms. We may suspend or close an account for use that breaks the terms of service, without notice, particularly where it risks harming a third party's site or our own service. That includes monitoring a site you do not own and have no permission to test, getting around our limits, and using GotAlt to overload someone else's site.
- Pages we may not or cannot check. A page whose
robots.txtdisallows GotAltBot is not checked, and it still counts toward your page count until you remove it or allow GotAltBot. We check one site's pages about six seconds apart, and we pause a site that tells us to slow down, so a check can arrive later than usual. - A payment that fails. If a renewal payment fails, monitoring carries on while Stripe retries the card. If the payment still has not gone through after 21 days, or Stripe ends the subscription after its last retry, monitoring stops. A page-count increase does not take effect until it has been paid for.
- Things outside our control. Our AI provider, our hosting provider or a site you monitor can be slow or down, which can delay or skip a check. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
With notice
- A change to your price. We email the address on your account at least 14 days before a new price takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
- A change to what your plan includes, or to these terms. If we reduce the pages, checks, images or AI suggestions a plan covers, remove a feature it lists, or change these key terms or the terms of service in a way that affects paying customers, we email the address on your account at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before then. If you cancel, your plan keeps running until the end of the period you have paid for.
Price, renewal, cancellation and refunds
| Plan | Per month | Per year | Each added page, per month | Each added page, per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29 | $295 | None | None |
| Professional | $69 | $703 | $1.40 | $14.28 |
| Agency | $229 | $2,335 | $1.30 | $13.26 |
- Renewal. A plan renews automatically until you cancel: a monthly plan every month and a yearly plan every year, at the price shown for your plan and page count, charged to the card on file through Stripe. A yearly plan is paid for the year in advance. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that apply.
- Canceling. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal on your account page, or by emailing hello@gotalt.com. There is no lock-in contract. Canceling stops the next renewal: your plan keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for, and monitoring stops then. We do not refund the unused part of a period, apart from the refund below.
- Refund. Email hello@gotalt.com within 7 days of your first payment for a plan and we refund it in full. The refund covers the first payment of a plan, not later renewals or charges for adding pages.
- Closing your account. If you close your account, a paid plan ends straight away and the unused part of the period is not refunded, apart from that refund.
- When a plan ends. Monitoring stops. Your account and its check history stay in place until you ask us to close the account. We then delete the account and its sites, pages and check history, and keep the invoices and payment records we need for tax, as the privacy policy describes.
Accepting, and when the key terms change
When you tick the box and continue to payment, we record the version of this page you accepted and the time against your account, and we save the version with your payment in Stripe. If you pay without an account, we add the record to the account created with the email address you give at checkout.
When we publish a new version, your account shows a notice asking you to accept it before your next renewal. Where the change affects what you pay for or what your plan includes, we also email you as described under "With notice" above. The notice never blocks your account: your results, exports, billing portal and cancellation keep working whether or not you accept. If you do not want a new version, you can cancel before the renewal.
This is not legal advice. You remain responsible for the disclosures you publish.
