Accessibility guides by platform
Website builders handle some accessibility for you, and the rest is yours: alt text, color choices, headings, link text and anything you add. These guides say, platform by platform, what the builder takes care of according to its own documentation, what you must do yourself, and how to check the pages you publish.

What every platform leaves to you
Each builder's own documentation puts the published content on the site owner: Wix says you are "responsible for making sure the content and design are also accessible", and Squarespace says you are responsible for making sure your site meets the legal requirements that apply to your business. Whatever the platform, these are yours:
- Alt text that says what each image shows and why it is there. See how to write alt text and alt text for product images.
- Color choices with enough contrast. See the color contrast guide and test with the contrast checker.
- Headings and link text that make sense on their own, checked with the heading checker and link text checker.
- Apps, widgets and embeds you add, which the platform does not test for you.
